Home Again

So nice to come home after a gorgeous weekend with HollyCornblog and CharlieHopbrew.  We got the dock in, stacked wood, managed a tour of a couple of Albany’s interesting beer pubs … and just enjoyed hanging out, walking, working, and being together.

I return home feeling very lucky on all fronts.  So here are some pictures from the weekend …

First off, here’s the dock, up and runing for the 2010 season.  It was a windy day, but actually not too bad in the water (once our legs got numbed up)!

This is HollyCornblog, taking some photos of me while I focus on her!

Sunday morning we took a walk up behind HollyCornblog and CharlieHopbrew’s house.  They live in the midst of a dairy farm … an amazing spot surrounded by fields planted in hay and corn … with rolling pastures … all backing up to a wooded hill that offers endless nooks and crannies for exploring on foot (or skiis or snowshoes, depending on the season).

Here’s the view, from a field near the top of the hill, looking back toward their house and the surrounding fields and farms.

See what I mean?

And finally, here’s one of HollyCornblog’s creations, nestled in the ferns behind their house.

There’s another one in the woods up at the lake.

And across the road there’s a whole village of castles … built over the years by a neighbor … a most incredible and magical place tucked away behind a non-descript-looking ranch house on a country road in the middle of Upstate NY dairy country.

There are so many things under this sun, eh?
