First … a nice illustration of how the rich are different! In an environment of high gas prices and high mortgage foreclosures, Mitt Romney is moving to California. One of the stated reasons? “…his wife likes to ride horses here.”
Next, a piece from the Post about how Exxon is not only bleeding us but also its franchise owners. Feels like they know their good times are nearly over (with their corrupt cronies about to exit the White House) and they’re squeezing out every last billion while they can.
And all is not hearts and flowers in USWNT land, as evidenced by this article from the NY Times on the ongoing fallout from the Hope Solo episode back at the Women’s World Cup. I’m one of the people who loves reading this stuff … and at the same time, I am sure that the stories themselves present complicated problems for the team to deal with. How’d you like to be going through a tough interpersonal time, and have it tracked in the NY Times. No way! (On the other hand, I wouldn’t mind having Pia in the wings with bits of encouragement and advice as I navigated those waters!)
And last but most certainly not least, HollyCornblog and CharlieHopbrew are off to “the lake” today. There, they’ll hopefully do very little work on opening up the place and instead spend lots of time relaxing and trying out CharlieHopbrew’s new Betsie Bay kayak! (That is NOT CharlieHopbrew in the picture … but it is a Betsie Bay Recluse.)
Have a great day, everyone!
