Is it Beautiful or What?

It’s a bittersweet, end-of-summer day here in NH.  The leaves are still (mostly) green but there’s a clarity and cleanness to the air that bespeaks September.  Every once in awhile, the scent of woodsmoke wafts by.  The crickets and cicadas are singing their heads off, and the sky sometimes seems awash in dragonflies.

I eye the woodpile.  ChristopherCornblog has started mowing the edges of the fields in preparation for the Big Mowing.  Every once in awhile I glimpse a yellow school bus motoring past the bottom of the driveway.  And RPE’s belongings are in piles, ready to be packed up and taken back to college tomorrow morning.

End of August.  Beginning of September.  Time travels on.  And for the Phantastic Phootball Phanatics, one of the things that means is that Fantasy Football starts soon.  I noticed (checking the site) that the preview scores for our week one match-up’s are posted.  That’s gonna mean more shifting around of players, I’m sure.  My first game is against HollyCornblog … it’ll be ugly – guaranteed!

And hey, Doris .. are you keeping an eye on Brandon Marshall?  (Didn’t know you were such a risk taker!)

WPS All StarsWe watched the first half of the WPS All Star game and taped the rest.  I won’t post the final score here … but for those who want to take a peak, here’s the link.

Don’t you love the newest team member?  She looks nice and cozy!

Now that the WPS season is over, it’s time to focus our soccer energy fully on the Women’s Euros – and rooting for England to come through today with a win over Sweden!

They don’t actually need the win to move on … but it sure would be nice.  My sense is that they haven’t hit their stride yet.  Now’s the time to start, ladies!

And are we going to see Vicki Kennedy in the Senate?

PS  Alice – sorry for being so late!

Glad you have a strategy … he kinda makes me nervous. As for that first match-up … I am fully prepared to lose with grace … it definitely helps (in MY FFootball world) to have low expectations!

You Betcha! I really do have a strategy, you will just have to wait and see what it is! Good luck with your first match up game on FF or should I say, PPP. Will be painful to watch, but I wish you both luck.

WPS All Star game was right up my alley–cool footwork, teamwork and gooooaaaaals! It turned out that I had a channel that was running it so I could watch the weaving and leaping on the big screen, too(well, bigger than my laptop, that is.) I think you’ll enjoy the second half. And I’ll take your advice–and to honor the Breakers– I am now officially a fan of England in the Women’s Euros.

    Go England!
