June Moon Looms

Tonight’s full moon will look unusually large. Apparently that is a big fat moon illusion – and one that is particularly pronounced in June. Speaking of June and moons … what was that movie with Cher that had the word moon in the title? Anybody know? Maybe it’ll come to me …

In the meantime, I’ll get on with the rest of the news. For starters … 131-92 … WOW! You know what I’m saying? Sorry Kobe … it’s spelled T-E-A-M! Meanwhile, the Phillies’ bats went dead last night and the Sox prevailed 3-0.) Angela Hucles was named Huclesthe Sierra Mist Player of the Match in the USWNT’s win over Brazil … a first for her, as far as I know. She seems to be really coming into her own after a lot of hard work more or less in the shadows.

And here’s that Vanity Fair article by Todd Purdum, aptly titled, “The Comeback Id” – the one that had Bill Clinton so bent out of shape at the end of Hillary’s campaign. Reading it, I feel bad for her (again) … but remind myself that she’s made choices … and perhaps, miscalculated. Anyway – it’s fascinating stuff – and I am glad that I don’t live in that house in Chappaqua right about now!

And the NY Times has a very good piece about Michelle Obama, as she (and her husband’s campaign) begin the delicate work of  oversimplifying her ideas, feelings, and history in order to make them palatable to the American voter.  What an interesting, substantial, and dynamic woman … and how painful to contemplate the evisceration that she will be experiencing in the coming weeks at the hands of the GOP.

Finally, here’s The Lithium League – a band of depressed children who are charged with saving the world. Surely they will do a much better job than the paranoid oil shills currently in charge.

  1. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I would not have come up with that on my own. Good movie, though! 🙂
